Gender Affirming Care Letters and Medical Transition Support

You know what you need but can’t get the right help.

You feel overwhelmed by the healthcare system.

You don’t know how to start or where to go next.

Gender transition— the process of coming into a place of comfort and truth in one’s gender— is a deeply personal and totally unique experience. There is no one singular model of what transition should look like for any person of any identity, and all choices made in the process of transition are the right choices for the individual making them. While medical transition is not a requirement of validity in holding trans identity, it can be a life-changing decision and life-saving process. A central tenet of my practice is supporting individuals in making informed and empowered choices when it comes to their transition. In serving this mission, I am committed to providing access to gender-affirming care letters.

My experience encompasses writing effective letters of support for hormone replacement therapy (HRT), chest masculinization or feminization surgery (often referred to as “top surgery”), gender-affirming facial surgery (FFS and FMS), gender-affirming body contouring (liposuction, fat grafting, and other procedures), hysterectomy, and various forms of genital surgery (orchiectomy, vaginoplasty, metoidioplasty, phalloplasty, scrotectomy, and other procedures often referred to as “bottom surgery”).

I do not require those seeking a letter of support for medical transition to participate in ongoing therapy. I offer one-time letter-writing services which include information gathering for the purposes of letter-writing, including collaborative consultation regarding letter contents, a digital copy of the completed letter, and the mailing of a physical copy with wet-ink signatures if required. One-time sessions are offered at a sliding scale rate of $80 - $180. This fee covers a 50-minute session, the writing and signing of a letter support, and any future edits which may need to be made to that letter. I also offer short-term therapy specific to exploration and education surrounding medical options for gender-affirming care, and letter-writing can be a component of our work in ongoing long-term gender-affirming therapy.
